Bring back the old pricing structure...#71

Haven’t seen any updates in months…not sure this is worth it anymore.

If I can figure out how to build a database-driven spreadsheet that outputs exports for Dan, GD and Sedo, that would save me $100 USD per month.

The landers feel out of date and lack the level of customization and tracking they should have.

I have a feeling I would have more sales if I just pointed directly to Dan.com or one of the major companies such as GD or Sedo. Maybe the 4% I’m trying to save on Dan.com isn’t worth it in the long run…

I have had 0 conversions on Domain.io landers. So I moved all back to Dan. What I do use is Domain.io for name server long enough to get authentication for Dan and Sedo once names are on there I change name servers to Dan.

I agree landers are pretty stale, and if you open up for contact seller all you get is spam bots leaving you mail because their is no bot protection on the form.

I too would like to see some additions. I just renewed for another year. But I am not happy many of the promised updates when I joined have fizzled out. I find I track most of my domain related stuff in Air Table. Which is free if you have less than 5000 records to keep in a single base. But you get added functionallity by doing the annual pro plan.

Thanks for sharing your perspective on the landers. It’s not just me then.
I have a feeling a lot will be changing by the end of the month (just not with this platform) due to the Dan/GoDaddy pricing changes.
In nine months here I have I think:

  • One sale which I had to negotiate through the contact form (and subsequent e-mails).
  • A handful of inquiries that didn’t lead to a sale (price between buyer and I were not close enough).
  • 95% SEO spam from the landers here.
Despite that most of my sales end up through the GoDaddy registrar path (Afternic), and the last 9 months or so of using these landers has been wasteful. I took the time to add photos and SEO-related keywords relevant to the domains, but they just don’t convert. I have Matomo code embedded on each name and I see some great actual viewer traffic (besides the usual bots). I wonder how many hundred hours I have spent adding photos and content to the majority of a portfolio of 5000 domains.
I’m looking at some self-hosted airtable-like options, but maybe it’s better to suck it up and pay the new 15% fee at Dan, and possibly take the high value assets and move them to SquadHelp non-premium listings for 7.5% commissions. Since most of my sales are through Afternic anyway, it’s just a matter of managing a table of the pricing and being able to sync that to Dan, Afternic and Sedo. Plus it would be nice to be able to make it work with other marketplaces in the future for more exposure.
I’ll try to post back here if I have any luck finding/building a system without a 5000 limit record that works for syncing/exporting well between the marketplaces.
